TAUER MASAS IN THE HYPERFINITE II1 FACTOR

A Tauer masa in
is obtained by taking an increasing sequence of type In subfactors generating
and masas in each subfactor which form an increasing chain. We show that the Tauer masas have Pukánszky invariant {1} and that the concepts of singularity and strong singularity and the weak asymptotic homomorphism property are equivalent for these masas.
